Transportation and Parking

*Due to the unique nature of the commissioning location, all guests will be transported to the ceremony site by either bus or train, departing from Anchorage. The tunnel to Whittier will be closed to all personal vehicles. Please indicate below your preferred method of transportation and we will make every effort to support the request. At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests will be required to return home via the same mode of transportation by which they arrived.

Alaska Railroad
The United States Navy, TED STEVENS Commissioning Committee, and Alaska Railroad have partnered to offer commissioning guests the unique opportunity to travel by train to the ceremony site in Whittier. Space is limited and is available on a first come/first served basis. The 2.5 hour ride will offer beautiful views of the Alaskan landscape. Trains will depart at 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. (Guests on the 7:00 a.m. train will report at 5:30 a.m. and guests on the 8:00 a.m. train will report at 6:30 a.m. to the Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center in time for transport to the Alaska Railroad Train Depot in Anchorage. You will receive your train assignment in the upcoming weeks with your electronic ticket package.)

Anchorage Motor Coach Bus
Motor Coach Busses will depart from the Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center for the 1.5 hour ride to the ceremony site, with the first bus leaving at 8:00 a.m. and the last at 9:30 a.m.
